Heung-Min Son captained South Korea into the quarter-finals of the Asian Games today (Thursday) as his side beat Iran 2-0 at the Wibawa Mukti Stadium in Indonesia.
South Korea took the lead late in the first half through Hwang Ui-jo before Lee Seung-woo doubled their advantage within 10 minutes of the second period starting.
Son completed the full 90 minutes.
The clash was South Korea’s first knockout game of the tournament after winning two out of three games in the group stage.
Sonny’s side now face a last eight tie against Uzbekistan on Monday (27 August) for a place in the semi-finals, which will take place on 29 August. The tournament finishes with the Gold Medal match on 1 September.
