'We're so proud' - Mauricio on Old Trafford triumph

Tue 28 August 2018, 00:33|Tottenham Hotspur

Mauricio Pochettino hailed our 3-0 triumph at Old Trafford as 'a special win’.

Harry Kane planted home a textbook header to open the scoring on 50 minutes before Lucas Moura took over, sweeping home from Christian Eriksen’s cross for 2-0 two minutes later and then speeding past Chris Smalling before slotting past David De Gea for the third.

United had the better of the chances in the first half but only one team looked likely winners after Kane’s opener. It’s also worth mentioning Hugo Lloris’ fine save to deny Romelu Lukaku in between our first and second goals.

If we don’t show togetherness it’s so difficult to win at a place like Old Trafford.

“It’s a special win at Old Trafford,” said Mauricio. “We feel so proud. Our players deserve full credit. I’m so happy, so proud but now we stay calm and work hard to prepare for the next game.”

Asked for the key to victory, Mauricio added: “It’s belief, always. Belief in the way that you work, the trust, the confidence and all together trying to fight for one objective. It was clear we're a team on the pitch and outside.

“We worked so hard preparing for the game. We have very good players but if we don’t show that togetherness it’s so difficult to win at a place like Old Trafford.

“You need time, to work hard and believe. The reality is reality, you cannot change what happened in the past, but you can change the present and the future and this is most important, to show that togetherness and fight against a big side like Manchester United.”
