Five in September's England squad

Our five England World Cup heroes have all retained their places in the national squad for this month’s matches against Spain and Switzerland.

Dele Alli, Eric Dier, Harry Kane, Danny Rose and Kieran Trippier, who all played in Russia during a memorable summer campaign, are set to be involved when the Three Lions play their first ever game in the new UEFA Nations League against Spain at Wembley on Saturday 8 September, kick-off 7.45pm.

Gareth Southgate’s men will also host Switzerland in a friendly – to be played at Leicester City’s King Power Stadium – on Tuesday 11 September, kick-off 8pm.

Dele has scored three goals in 30 England appearances to date, Eric has netted three goals in 32 games, Harry has scored 19 goals while winning 30 caps while Danny and Kieran have been capped 23 and 13 times respectively, ‘Trips’ memorably opening his international goalscoring account in the World Cup semi-final defeat to Croatia.
