'We're frustrated but we'll move on' - Dier, Kane and Lloris on Swansea

17 September 2017|Tottenham Hotspur

Eric Dier, Harry Kane and skipper Hugo Lloris were all keen to put a frustrating day to bed and move on to the next game as they reflected on Saturday's stalemate with Swansea City.

Harry hit the bar and Łukasz Fabiański made one or two key stops as we were found wanting against a packed Swans defence at Wembley Stadium, connected by EE.

Here's what the players told us after the match...

Eric Dier

Thoughts on the match
"Everyone is frustrated. It was what it was – we dominated from start to finish and we just couldn’t break them down. Fair play to Swansea, they were very well organised, well drilled but we still believe we’re good enough to break teams down and that wasn’t the case today."

On the pattern of the game
"The whole game was played in their half in the second half, we just lacked a bit of quality on the final pass or final shot or finding the space to get that final pass or shot in. That’s football. If you don’t score you don’t win and it’s pretty simple really. We didn’t score and we have to move on now to the next game back here on Tuesday (against Barnsley in the Carabao Cup).

Harry Kane

On the outcome
"It’s obviously disappointing, it's difficult when they drop off that deep, we didn’t create too many chances but the keeper made a couple of vital saves at the right times and we just found it difficult. It's a disappointing result for us but we just have to move on now and try to put it behind us."

On the chances we did create
"That’s what's frustrating – I hit the bar, the keeper made a couple of good saves, we didn’t have any clear-cut chances but we had some good chances that I'd say on another day would have gone in. That’s football and it’s part of the game. Obviously we’re disappointed but there's nothing we can do now."

On the way we lined up
"We can play any system, we've got very good players in the squad so it's just about being a bit more clinical in the final third and having a few more numbers in the box maybe at the right times, but overall it was just a disappointing day for us."

Hugo Lloris

On the team's effort
"It was a good performance, yes, but not enough. Okay, we had some chances but we need to start the game in a better way and to be more aggressive in the first 10 or 15 minutes. Swansea tried to keep it at 0-0 as long as possible. We tried and tried until the end but unfortunately we ran out of time. We want more and we probably deserved more and the feeling in the dressing room is one of frustration but now we need to turn our minds to the next game and the Carabao Cup."
