Tottenham v Chelsea

Chelsea lock horns with another of their London rivals on Sunday as they make the short trip to White Hart Lane to face a Tottenham team that is eager to finally bury the hoodoo that has seen them unable to defeat the Blues in over 11 and a half years.

Gary Lineker was on the score-sheet last time Spurs defeated their west London foes in February 1990, but then the now TV presenter notched a total of 24 goals that season making him the First Division's leading scorer.

But while a Spurs forward has yet to find the back of the net this term, Chelsea possess one of the most deadly strikers in the Premiership. Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink netted three times against Spurs last season on his way to winning the golden boot and the Dutchman's two goals already this year is a factor in the Blues having one of the finest goals-to-shots-ratio in the Premiership with 15%.

Hasselbaink will be hoping for a happier end to his afternoon this weekend after being dismissed following an altercation with Martin Keown last Sunday. The striker is to appeal against the dismissal and his availability is crucial to Claudio Ranieri's team.

One man who will certainly not be featuring is former Chelsea hero Gustavo Poyet. The man who notched 12 goals last season the highest tally by a midfielder is completing the last of a three-match ban gained for his dubious red card at Everton last month. The Uruguayan, a popular figure with the supporters in his four seasons at the Bridge, will see his place taken by impressive youngster Simon Davies.

The 21-year-old became the first Spurs player to claim an assist this season with a defence-splitting pass that enabled Christian Ziege to run on to and break the deadlock in the game against Southampton last Sunday. Before Davies himself guaranteed all three points for Glenn Hoddle's side with a cool finish when one-on-one with goalkeeper Paul Jones.

But Hoddle knows that another of his former clubs, Chelsea, will pose a much stiffer test than Southampton did. With the Blues' than Spurs 38% shooting accuracy seven percentage points better than Spurs' it could be a difficult afternoon for inexperienced defenders Ledley King and Gary Doherty.

Add to the fact that Chelsea will be more refreshed after their UEFA Cup clash with Levski Sofia was postponed due to the atrocious terrorist attacks in New York then you would expect Ranieri's team to come away with all three points.
