Elsewhere, Robbie Keane captained the Republic of Ireland in their first international at Croke Park, the home of the Gaelic Athletic Association. Over 72,00 watched as he set-up the winner for Stephen Ireland in the 1-0 victory against Wales in Euro 2008 qualifying. However, he later picked up a yellow card and is now suspended for Wednesday's qualifier against Slovakia.
Tom Huddlestone was a second half substitute for England U21s in the first international at the new Wembley Stadium. Wayne Routledge - on loan at Fulham - was on target in the 3-3 draw against Italy with goalkeeper Ben Alnwick an unused substitute.
Lee Young-Pyo's South Korea didn't recover from a first half double from Carlos Bueno as the hosts went down 2-0 to Uruguay in Seoul.
Meanwhile, Kieran McKenna suffered a 2-0 reverse on Northern Ireland Under-21 duty in Romania.
