THE club's first-ever Football League fixture ended with a fantastic victory over FA Cup holders Wolves in a game they dominated from start to finish.

Despite the game being played in rain swept conditions and on a Thursday afternoon, a crowd of 20,000 still turned up to watch.

It took just six minutes for Spurs to open their account when Vivian Woodward blasted home the club's first-ever league goal from close range after Walton's free-kick was blocked. Wolves had their one and only chance of the half a minute before half-time but Radford's goal was disallowed for offside.

Woodward doubled his and Spurs' total for the afternoon straight from the kick-off to put the game out of Wolves' reach and despite some heavy pressure from the Cup holders, goalscoring chances were few and far between.

Late in the game Spurs made things safe when Tom Morris weaved his way past three players before drilling a 30-yard effort into the top corner.
