Looking ahead and back on events on the same day in years gone by.

1.    MONDAY

1986    We beat Inter Milan 2-1 in a benefit match for Ossie Ardiles at White Hart Lane with Diego Maradona (pictured, above) in our line-up.

1999    Ledley King makes his Spurs debut at Liverpool.

2.    TUESDAY

1981    Gordon Smith scores his only goal for Spurs in a 4-2 defeat at West Bromwich Albion. Mark Falco also on target.

1998    Jurgen Klinsmann scores four times in a 6-2 win over Wimbledon to help us stave off any danger of relegation.

3.    WEDNESDAY

1997    Espen Baardsen makes his Spurs debut at Anfield where Dean Austin plays his last game for us. We lose 2-1 with Darren Anderton our scorer.

2008    Robbie Keane hits our winner in a 1-0 victory at Reading.

4.    THURSDAY

1963    Jimmy Greaves grabs a record 37th goal for the season in our 4-2 home win over Sheffield United.

1988    Clive Allen, Johnny Metgod and Steve Hodge all play their last game for Spurs. Hodge scores in our 2-1 win.

5.    FRIDAY

WEST HAM UNITED v SPURS, Premier League, at London Stadium, 8pm

1962    We retain the FA Cup with a 3-1 win over Burnley at Wembley. Danny Blanchflower (penalty), Bobby Smith and Jimmy Greaves score.

1986    Tony Galvin hits a hat-trick as we beat Southampton 5-3 at White Hart Lane.

6.    SATURDAY

1953    Future Scottish international Graeme Souness born in Edinburgh and would join us as an apprentice in April, 1969.

1961    We complete the Double with a 2-0 FA Cup Final victory over Leicester City. Bobby Smith and Terry Dyson are our marksmen.

7.    SUNDAY

1911    We play a North German Combined XI in Hamburg and win 4-1.

2006    Chasing a Champions League place we lose 2-1 at West Ham after a stomach virus sweeps through our squad. Jermain Defoe nets for us against his former club.

8.    MONDAY

1934    England international centre-half Maurice Norman (pictured, below) born in Mulbarton, Norfolk, and would join us from Norwich City in November, 1955.

1979    Mark Falco scores on his debut at Bolton where we win 3-1. Jimmy Holmes also nets in what proved to be his last game for Spurs.

9.    TUESDAY

1949    We travel to Penzance to take on a Cornwall County XI in a friendly and return with a 2-0 win. Charlie Rundle and Les Medley score.

1966    Terry Venables makes his Spurs debut at Blackburn where we win by the only goal. Jimmy Greaves is the scorer.

10.    WEDNESDAY

1982    Goalkeeper Tony Parks plays his first senior game for Spurs – a 2-2 draw at Upton Park.

1998    Gary Mabbutt and Jurgen Klinsmann play their last games for us – and Klinsmann scores in the 1-1 home draw with Southampton.

11.    THURSDAY

1974    Alan Gilzean scores his last goal in his final appearance for Spurs as we win 2-0 at Newcastle where Terry Lee and Keith Osgood make their debuts.

1997    Paul McVeigh scores his only Spurs goal in his final appearance for us. We lose 2-1 at home to Coventry City.

12.    FRIDAY

1984    Steve Archibald nets as we draw 1-1 with Manchester United at White Hart Lane.

2013    We win 2-1 at Stoke, staging a comeback from a third-minute deficit with goals from Clint Dempsey and Emmanuel Adebayor.

13.    SATURDAY

1914    We beat Milan 5-0 in Milan on our European tour. Bert Bliss and Jimmy Elliott notch two apiece.

1986    Peter Shreeves’ first reign as Spurs manager ends as he departs with assistant John Pratt.

14.    SUNDAY

SPURS v MANCHESTER UNITED, Premier League, at White Hart Lane, 4.30pm

Filip Lesniak’s 21st birthday.

1921    We travel to Camberley to play Fulham in aid of the RMC (Sandhurst) War Memorial Fund and triumph 4-0.

1977    Our relegation from the First Division is confirmed despite us beating Leicester City 2-0 at the Lane. John Pratt and Jimmy Holmes score.

15.    MONDAY

1963    History is made as we become the first British side to win a European trophy – beating Atletico Madrid 5-1 in Rotterdam to lift the European Cup Winners’ Cup. Terry Dyson (2), Jimmy Greaves (2) and John White all hit the target.

1992    Peter Shreeves’ (pictured, below) second spell as Spurs boss comes to an end.

16.    TUESDAY

1921    We lift the Charity Shield for the first time with a 2-0 win over champions Burnley at White Hart Lane. Our goals come from Jimmy Cantrell and Bert Bliss.

2005    Canadian international right-back Paul Stalteri signs from Werder Bremen.

17.    WEDNESDAY

1972    We win the UEFA Cup after a second leg 1-1 draw with Wolves at the Lane. Alan Mullery is our goalscorer in his last game for the club.

1983    In Port of Spain we draw 2-2 in a friendly with a Trinidad and Tobago XI. Steve Archibald and Garth Crooks score.

18.    THURSDAY

LEICESTER CITY v SPURS, aPremier League, at the King Power Stadium, 7.45pm

1929    We beat the Royal Navy by the only goal of the game in Malta, scored from the penalty spot by Ted Harper.

1991    The FA Cup is won with an extra time 2-1 success over Nottingham Forest at Wembley thanks to an own goal and another from Paul Stewart.

19.    FRIDAY

1957    Bobby Smith scores three in a 4-3 friendly win over Celtic in New York.

2001    We beat Manchester United 3-1 at the Lane. Willem Korsten scores twice on his last outing for the club.

20.    SATURDAY

1967    We win the FA Cup as Chelsea are defeated 2-1 at Wembley. Jimmy Robertson and Frank Saul score.

1991    Mitchell Thomas plays his last game for the club in a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford. John Hendry nets for us.

21.    SUNDAY

HULL CITY v SPURS, Premier League, at the KCOM Stadium, 3pm

1964    We go down 7-2 at Burnley in Division One! Goals from Cliff Jones and Jimmy Greaves are little consolation.

1974    Our UEFA Cup Final first leg tie with Feyenoord at the Lane ends in a 2-2 draw thanks an own goal and another from Mike England.

22.    MONDAY

1969    Mark Robson born in Stratford, East London, and would join us in July, 1987.

1982    Our FA Cup Final with QPR ends 1-1. Glenn Hoddle and future Spur Terry Fenwick share the goals.

23.    TUESDAY

1954    Gerry Armstrong born in Belfast. A future Northern Ireland international, he would join us in November, 1975.

1984    After a 1-1 second leg draw with Anderlecht at the Lane, we win the UEFA Cup following a dramatic penalty shoot-out.

24.    WEDNESDAY

1924    A 1-0 friendly win at Basel. Alex Lindsay nets.

2009    A 3-1 Premier League defeat at Liverpool where Robbie Keane scores.

25.    THURSDAY

1960    We go down 2-0 in a friendly at Juventus.

1907    We return from Ostend after winning 8-1 at Union St Gilloise. Max Seeburg hits a hat-trick.

1953    Don McAllister born in Radcliffe and would join us from Bolton in February, 1975.

27.    SATURDAY

1967    Paul Gascoigne born in Gateshead. His move to Spurs from Newcastle comes in July, 1988.

1982    We lift the FA Cup after a narrow replay win over QPR. Glenn Hoddle scores the only goal from the penalty spot.

28.    SUNDAY

Kyle Walker’s 27th birthday.

1952    Sid McClellan scores nine as we beat the Saskatchewan FA XI 18-1 on our Canadian tour.

2004    Future Hungarian international goalkeeper Marton Fulop signs following a trial. RIP Marton.

29.    MONDAY

1974    On a night to forget, we lose 2-0 at Feyenoord in the UEFA Cup Final second leg, a 4-2 aggregate defeat.

1984    Keith Burkinhaw’s testimonial sees a 2-2 draw with an England XI at the Lane. Irish internationals Chris Hughton and Gary Brady score for us.

30.    TUESDAY

1930    Experienced full-back Bert Lyons signs from Leyton Orient.

1983    Garth Crooks bags all our goals in a 3-2 friendly victory at Aalesund in Norway.

31.    WEDNESDAY

1910    Winger Joe Meek born at Hazelrigg, Tyneside, and would join us in March, 1936.

1941    Brentford knock us out of the London War Cup (Section B) at the semi-final stage with a 2-0 triumph at White Hart Lane.
