1985 We win 2-1 at Arsenal with goals from Mark Falco and Garth Crooks.

1993 We beat non-league Marlow 5-1 in an ‘away’ game at White Hart Lane! Nick Barmby and Vinny Samways hit two apiece with Teddy Sheringham also on target in our FA Cup third round success after Marlow opt to give up home advantage.
2001 In a game of three dismissals and three penalties, we beat Newcastle United 4-2 at the Lane. Gary Doherty (pictured, above) scores his first Spurs goal.

EVERTON v SPURS, Barclays Premier League, at Goodison Park, 4pm
1953 Peter Taylor born in Rochford. The England international winger would join us from Crystal Palace in September, 1976.
2000 We open the new Millennium with a single goal home win over Liverpool, thanks to Chris Armstrong’s goal.

1947 Eddie Baily (pictured, below) and Sonny Walters make their Spurs debuts in a 2-0 home Second Division win over West Bromwich Albion. Walters and Ron Burgess score.
5 TUESDAY
1895 We draw 3-3 at London Welsh in the FA Amateur Cup Divisional Final replay.
1991 Paul Stewart’s goal at former club Blackpool in the FA Cup third round sets us off on the road to Wembley success.
6 WEDNESDAY
1943 Terry Venables born in Dagenham. He would join us from Chelsea in May, 1966, and go on to manage the club.
1969 Ilie Dumitrescu born in Bucharest and would make the move to the Lane from Steaua in August, 1994.
7 THURSDAY
1905 England amateur international Vivian Woodward (pictured, below) is on the scoresheet as we beat Watford 2-0 at home in the Southern League. Sandy Tait nets from the penalty spot.
1984 Graham Roberts goes in goal for the injured Ray Clemence at Fulham where we draw 0-0 in the third round of the FA Cup. Roberts then scores in the replay where we progress 2-0.
8 FRIDAY
1901 We entertain a German Association XI in a friendly at the Lane – and win 9-6! The Germans were the first European team to play us. Sandy Tait scores three with doubles for Sandy Brown and Tom Morris.
1910 Everton make their first ever visit to White Hart Lane – and lose a Division One encounter 3-1. Bert Middlemiss scores twice.
9 SATURDAY
1886 We play at Dalston Rovers in a friendly. If you were there and recall the score, please let us know.
1905 We beat West Ham 10-0 in the semi-final of the Southern Charity Cup at White Hart Lane. Vivian Woodward scores five. We subsequently draw 0-0 with Reading in the final at Craven Cottage to share the trophy.

1914 A 5-5 draw at Leicester Fosse in round one of the FA Cup. Bert Bliss scores twice – and once in the replay as we win 2-0.
1970 Jimmy Greaves scores his last goal for Spurs – we beat Derby County 2-1 at the Lane with Roger Morgan also on target.

1964 Jimmy Greaves (pictured, below) nets a hat-trick in a 4-1 home win over Blackburn Rovers.
1969 David Jenkins scores his first goal for Spurs – to earn us a 1-1 draw at Stoke City.

1918 A 4-1 victory over Arsenal at Highbury in the London Combination. It was our home game but the Lane had been taken over by the war office.
1953 Tranmere Rovers hammered 9-1 in an FA Cup third round replay at White Hart Lane. Sid McClellan scores three with doubles for Len Duquemin, Roy Hollis and Eddie Baily.
13 WEDNESDAY
SPURS v LEICESTER CITY, Barclays Premier League, at White Hart Lane, 8pm
1923 We draw 0-0 with non-league Worksop Town in terrible conditions at home. Worksop opt to stage the replay at White Hart Lane two days later – and we win 9-0! Alex Lindsay scores four and Tich Handley three.
1996 Chris Armstrong bags the only goal as we beat Manchester City at the Lane.

1976 Pat Jennings has a blinder as we beat Newcastle in the first leg of our League Cup semi-final – but we get knocked out 3-1 in the return.
1986 We lose 2-0 at home to Liverpool in the Screen Sport Super Cup.

1898 We beat our future ‘nursery’ club Northfleet 4-0 at home in the Southern League. Bill Joyce hits a hat-trick.
1915 Goalkeeper Joe Nicholls bangs in a penalty as we beat Arsenal ‘A’ 12-2 on their first ever visit to the Lane.

1909 Our first ever meeting with Manchester City ends in a 4-3 FA Cup first round victory for us at their old Hyde Road ground. Billy Minter scores twice.
1999 Mauricio Taricco makes his Spurs debut at home to Wimbledon. Colin Calderwood plays his last game for us.
17 SUNDAY
1931 We lose 4-1 at Bradford Park Avenue in the Second Division. Ted Harper is our goalscorer. We finish three points behind runners-up West Brom at the end of the season. Albion go up with table toppers Everton.
1968 Martin Chivers scores on his Spurs debut at Sheffield Wednesday where we win 2-1.
18 MONDAY
1930 Ted Harper hits three as we beat Blackpool 6-1 at home in the Second Division. Blackpool finish as champions at the end of the season while we’re 12th in the table.
1947 We lose by the only goal at Newcastle in front of a 62,876 crowd. Striker Harry Gilberg makes his debut for us.

1962 Phil Beal signs as a professional and makes his first team debut at Aston Villa in September the following year.
2007 Pascal Chimbonda scores his first Spurs goal in a 1-1 draw at Fulham.

1933 Tony Marchi born in Edmonton and would sign for us, initially as an amateur, in July, 1948.
2009 Goalkeeper Ben Alnwick makes his Spurs debut in our League Cup semi-final return at Burnley. We lose 3-2 after extra time but progress to the final on a 6-4 aggregate.

1898 We beat Wolverton 7-1 at home in the Southern League. Bill Joyce scores four.
1955 Johnny Gavin and Johnny Brooks hit two apiece as we defeat Sheffield Wednesday 7-2 in the First Division at the Lane.

2002 We knock Chelsea out of the League Cup at the semi-final stage with a 5-1 victory in the second leg at White Hart Lane. We had lost the first game 2-1.
2006 Central defender Ricardo Rocha signs from Benfica.

1885 We are 4-0 up in a home friendly with Victoria Wanderers when the game is abandoned on the hour.
1981 Welsh international Terry Yorath (pictured, above) makes his final Spurs appearance as he helps us to a 2-0 home success over Hull City in the FA Cup.

1964 Derek Possee scores on his Spurs debut at home to Aston Villa. We win 3-1.
1965 David Ginola born in Gossin and would join us from Newcastle United in the summer of 1997.

1990 We travel to Plymouth Argyle for Geoff Crudgington’s testimonial and return with a 3-0 win. Paul Gascoigne and Gary Mabbutt score to add to an own goal.

2009 Goalkeeper Carlo Cudicini makes his Spurs debut – a 3-1 home victory over Stoke City. Aaron Lennon, Jermain Defoe and Michael Dawson are our marksmen.
2012 We play our first ever FA Cup tie at Vicarage Road and beat Watford 1-0 in the fourth round. Rafael van der Vaart hits our winner.

1963 Goalkeeper Tony Parks born in Hackney. He would sign for us as an apprentice in April, 1979.
1970 Jimmy Greaves plays his last game for Spurs – a 1-0 FA Cup fourth round replay defeat at Crystal Palace.

1910 Alex Steel makes his Tottenham debut in a goalless draw at home to Bradford City. In doing so he joins his brothers Danny and Bobby in our side – the only occasion in which we have fielded three brothers in the same league game. It was to be Alex’s only Spurs appearance.

2013 Lewis Holtby makes his debut as substitute at Norwich where we draw 1-1.
31 SUNDAY
1942 Middlesbrough’s England international Wilf Mannion ‘guests’ for us in the war time fixture at Crystal Palace where we draw 2-2. Jack Gibbons and George Ludford score.
1959 Arsenal’s Len Julians (pictured, above, heading against our bar in a 3-0 win for us at the Lane this month in 1960) becomes the first player to be dismissed in a North London derby. He later worked for us as our first Football in the Community officer and sadly died in December, 1993. A lovely man who was actually born in Tottenham. RIP Len.
