Report: Rangers 2-0 Spurs

Jacques Santini's dreadful luck in pre-season continued with another injury - this time Robbie Keane - in Wednesday night's friendly against Rangers.

Our Irish star was stretchered off after 28 minutes of this high-octane 'warm-up match' in front of over 35,000 fans at Ibrox.

Keane, on target at Sheffield United on Sunday, suffered an ankle injury as Rangers defender Marvin Andrews blocked his attempted shot.

He signalled to the bench straight away, clutching his ankle, and our medical team soon waved for a stretcher. He was carried off with his right leg stabilised in a protective brace.

It means Head Coach Santini has lost THREE strikers in pre-season with youngsters Lee Barnard (broken collar bone/ankle) and Jamie Slabber (shoulder) already crocked. Fredi Kanoute is yet to play but has stepped up training after illness last week.

Michael Brown and Stephen Kelly have also picked up injuries and to add injury to, well, injury, Dean Marney limped off later on at Ibrox with a gashed knee.

It was a fiesty friendly - summed up by Sean Davis and Nacho Novo's bust-up after a crunching 50-50 tackle in the second half - but despite defeat, and Keane's injury, it was the sort of test to bring the lads on further with our Premier League opener against Liverpool drawing ever closer.

The game actually started quietly with the likes of Pedro Mendes and Davis popping the ball about but Rangers started to get on top about midway through the first half.

Paul Robinson made a magnificent point-blank save to deny the impressive Dado Prso and after Ledley King flicked a header just wide from John Jackson's corner, Rangers took the lead.

Unfortunately it came via a mistake as King and Anthony Gardner got tangled up allowing Novo a clean run on goal - he made no mistake one-on-one.

Keane's injury put even more of a dampener on procedings but we responded well with more decent possession before Stefan Klos acrobatically clawed away Jermain Defoe's snapshot. Defoe continues to look sharp.

Rangers stepped up a gear though and Robinson somehow kept out Andrews' header but it wasn't long before the lead was doubled. Lovenkrands broke through Carr's tackle, sprinted to the byline and crossed for Prso to tap home with Robinson helpless.

The second half didn't reach the intensity of the first. Novo blazed over from close range after the best move of the half but the action was stop-start thanks to a succession of substitutes.
