Chris Hughton was full of praise for his 'famous five' on Wednesday night.
Five Under-19 players - Andrew Burke, on his debut, John Jackson, Steven Ferguson, Yannick Kamanan and Destin Makumbu - started in our 2-1 FA Premier Reserve League win at Watford.
All five did well as goals from Ferguson (pictured) and Kamanan clinched victory at Vicarage Road.
Boss Chris said: "These are the opportunities they must take and it was nice for the lads to play on a good surface at Vicarage Road.
"If I looked at the reserve games the younger lads don't often get the chance to play.
"In theory you could say that they should be playing far more regularly but, of course, when you look at the likes of Etherington, Davies, Gardner, who are one step away from the first team, they need to play regular games.
"So when these lads get an opportunity they have to grasp it.
"It wasn't the prettiest game and certainly not one of our better performances but then you look for other things and we showed plenty of character out there and testament to them, we dug in for a result."
Kamanan opened the scoring after 37 minutes, Ferguson made it 2-0 two minutes into the second half and despite a late Watford goal and flourish, the result never really seemed in doubt.
Chris added: "When you come to Watford what you expect from a young Watford side is a battle of a game, you always get a very committed outfit. We scored the goals at the right time and it was a battling performance."
Listen to what Chris had to say at Watford by clicking here
<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
