Goalscorers Son, Kane and Eriksen react to Everton victory

Sun 14 January 2018, 12:42|Tottenham Hotspur

Saturday’s three goalscorers spoke about the importance of starting well and breaking the deadlock in the first half against Everton.

After Heung-Min Son’s 26th-minute opener, we pulled away after the break with another Harry Kane brace and an excellent team move finished off by Christian Eriksen to secure a 4-0 win – just reward for another outstanding performance.

Here’s what was said by the men who did the business in front of goal at Wembley…

Heung-Min Son

Thoughts on the performance
“Everyone played very well and we deserved to win. It was important to score in the first half and (after that) they came out, we had space and we were strong. We took our chances. I loved Christian's goal, everyone was involved, Serge, Harry, me, Dele... it was lovely football.”

On his opener

“I really enjoyed tonight. I'm happy to score and to get the three points. I enjoy playing for Spurs and trying to help my team-mates and show a performance for the fans. Without their support or my team-mates, nothing is happening.”

Harry Kane

On the first half performance
“Right from the start, we were on it. That’s what we needed, to build our momentum. We played great. Everyone was getting around the pitch, pressing, creating chances and we took them well.”

On maintaining winning momentum
“We’re doing well and it’s important we keep calm and keep doing what we’re doing. The fourth goal was a great goal, great to be involved in and that’s what it’s all about. So like I said, we keep going, keep taking it game by game and try to win as many as we can.”

On Son’s goalscoring
“He’s been excellent. He’s been doing it all season and that’s what we need, everyone playing well, creating chances, scoring goals and that’s what Sonny does. It’s great to see him in this form.”

Christian Eriksen

Overall thoughts on the game
“Everyone is really very pleased with the win and how we played was very good so it’s on to the next game. I think it gives us a lot of confidence to play like we did today.”

On his fellow goalscorers
“Sonny is flying and so is Harry. It’s enjoyable to watch and enjoyable to be in the same team with them. Congratulations to Harry for breaking the (Premier League goals) record for Spurs. It’s always a big achievement and to do it in so few games as he’s done is fantastic and of course Sonny with how he plays, it’s a big thing to play in the team with them both.”
