Wed 19 April 2017, 17:25|Tottenham Hotspur

The Tottenham Hotspur Foundation is celebrating a decade of creating opportunities that change lives and today we bring you the latest in a series of features taking a look at some of the Club’s extraordinary yet often unseen work in its community.

Here we learn about Wisdom, who was in foster care when he was referred to the To Care Is To Do programme – designed to engage looked after children and care leavers within the local community.

The programme sees Tottenham Hotspur Foundation mentors provide a range of support services to help improve educational attainment, increase employability, develop life skills and promote healthy and active lifestyles.

The support provided by the Club brought Wisdom out of his shell and allowed him to fulfil his potential. This resulted in him recently winning a Haringey Outstanding For All Award for academic achievement after overcoming adversity.

Wisdom said: “Before I entered the To Care Is To Do programme, I was going through a difficult time and didn’t know what path to follow.

“My mentor Nikky helped me through that period in my life and gave me the confidence to express myself. I’m now doing my A-Levels and dreaming of going to university.”

As part of Tottenham Hotspur’s on-going commitment to delivering initiatives that work to overcome issues facing children in care,

To Care Is To Do is delivered in partnership with Haringey Council Virtual School.
