Eriksen: 'There's a lot to look forward to in 2018'

Sat 30 December 2017, 12:20|Tottenham Hotspur

Christian Eriksen is anticipating an exciting New Year.

The Danish international midfielder has plenty on his plate on and off the field – and can’t wait to get things started at Swansea City on Tuesday night.

“Of course, 2018 will be a very special year with the stadium, with the Premier League, the Champions League where we’re through against Juventus, the World Cup… there’s a lot to go through and a lot to enjoy in terms of football,” said the 25-year-old, who also revealed on Instagram recently that he and his partner are expecting their first child.

“We continue like we finished this year really.

“The league is only half-way through and we have to play for every point and every game has to be treated the same way.”

It’s set to be a hectic start to 2018 with a home match against London rivals West Ham United coming a mere 48 hours after the trip to south Wales, followed by an FA Cup third round tie with AFC Wimbledon at Wembley on Sunday 7 January.

But for Christian, who helped us register back-to-back wins against Burnley and Southampton over the festive period, it’s all about maintaining our positive momentum.

“Of course, we need to continue with what we did in 2017 and then make the year even better than the last one,” he said.

“It’s the same thing actually – football goes around, we have a game on January 2 and with that the second half of the season starts very quickly. It’s up to us to keep going and keep improving.”
