Dele Alli has received his first call-up to the England Under-21 side after being named in the squad today (Tuesday, August 25) for the forthcoming friendlies against USA and Norway.
It adds to a positive week for the promising young midfielder after he netted his first Premier League goal in Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Leicester, with Eric Dier joining him in Gareth Southgate’s 23-man squad.
The Young Lions take on USA’s Under-23 side in Preston on Thursday, September 3, before starting their European Under-21 qualifying campaign in Norway on Monday, September 7.
Elsewhere, young goalkeeper Alfie Whiteman and attacking midfielder Marcus Edwards have been named in the England Under-18s squad to face Holland in back-to-back friendlies on Tuesday, September 3, and Saturday, September 5.
