Club recreates famous all-staff photographs
12 May 2017|Tottenham Hotspur
During various times in our history, players, management and staff have gathered together for a photograph at White Hart Lane and now, as we approach the emotional final days of our famous old stadium, the Club has recreated those iconic photographs on the hallowed turf.
Back in 1951, manager Arthur Rowe (below, far left) stood proudly on the pitch with the squad that had clinched the Club's first top flight championship in the old First Division in 1950-51, securing back-to-back titles after winning the old Second Division in 1949-50.
There are 34 players of 67 full-time staff in the photograph, some of the all-time greats of the Club including, of course, 'Mr Tottenham', Bill Nicholson, who would follow this success as a player with even more as our most successful manager.
Bill is central in this 1951 photograph, standing in front of Alf Ramsey, who would of course lead England to their one and, so far, only World Cup win in 1966.
Indeed, just before clinching the double in 1961, Bill would join players and staff for another iconic photograph at White Hart Lane, this time with 94 staff, taken by the Daily Mail.
Manager Bill, 13 first team players and trainer (coach) Eddie Baily are at the forefront with the rest of the Club’s staff lined up behind them – including directors, trainers, doctor, groundsmen, scouts, office staff, reserve and junior players, maintenance staff, catering and even a member of the band that used to play on matchdays.
The photograph was taken in front of the old entrance to the West Stand – which, aptly, became Bill Nicholson Way – with the old signage ‘Tottenham Hotspur Football Club’ standing proudly in the background.
How times have changed.
For the Tottenham Hotspur class of 2017, over 450 staff members were positioned across the playing surface at the Lane with the photograph taken from the upper tier of the West Stand. We also created a timelapse video from above on the day – take a look at this here…
This time, the Board, Mauricio Pochettino and the first team squad, coaching staff and medical team were joined by all departments of the Club – Academy, Recruitment & Performance, Football Operations, Commercial & Partnerships, Communications, Marketing, Stadium & Training Centre Operations, Kit & Equipment, Finance, Hospitality, Ticketing & Membership, IT/Tech, New Stadium, HR, Safeguarding, Global Coaching, Grounds, Retail and Foundation.
