Kane opens up on quick comeback

02 April 2018|Tottenham Hotspur

Harry Kane put his quick recovery down to “doing the right things” as he soaked in that winning feeling at Stamford Bridge.

Our talismanic striker went down with ankle ligament damage during the first half of our 4-1 win at Bournemouth on 11 March – his third problem of that nature in the last two seasons.

But unlike his two spells on the sidelines last term, Harry was able to make a rapid comeback and, after missing the FA Cup win at Swansea City and subsequent international matches for England, he took his place on the bench at Chelsea on Sunday before coming on for the closing stages as we saw out a memorable 3-1 victory.

Asked how he made it back so quickly, Harry smiled: “I’ve just recovered well. Thankfully the swelling went down quicker than usual and it’s just about doing all the right things.

“I prepared well for this game but whenever I get injured, I make sure I do everything right. Thankfully I recovered quicker this time and it was great to be out there again.”

As a product of our Academy, Harry has seen us go to Stamford Bridge time and time again without claiming maximum points, so he was understandably elated to see the team emerge victorious this time around thanks to goals from Christian Eriksen and Dele Alli (2), in what was our first triumph on Chelsea’s enclosure since 1990.

“It feels amazing,” he beamed. “It’s obviously been a while and everyone knows we haven’t won here in a long, long time so to get that win – which I thought we fully deserved – feels amazing and I hope we can take this momentum into the rest of the season now.

“It’s always tough when you go 1-0 down away from home, especially against good teams, but the lads stayed calm, Christian scored a fantastic goal to get us back in the game just before half-time and in the second half we really did better. We created the better chances and it was great to see Dele get a couple of goals.”
