Brighton v Spurs - Mauricio's preview

17 April 2018|Tottenham Hotspur

Mauricio Pochettino is well aware that this is another huge week for the Club.

“It always is!” smiled the manager as we prepared to face Brighton this evening in the Premier League before Saturday’s FA Cup semi-final against Manchester United at Wembley.

“Every single game is important and this game (Brighton) is important to maintain the gap with Chelsea,” added Mauricio.

Managed by Spurs legend Chris Hughton, Brighton enjoyed a fabulous February and beat Arsenal at the Amex but are currently on a run of four matches without a win after losing 3-2 at rivals Palace on Saturday.

February’s run lifted them away from the drop zone and with five matches remaining, they are seven points clear of the bottom three. However, those five matches will be tough – ourselves, Burney, United, City and Liverpool.

“Brighton are is doing very well,” said Mauricio. “We know Chris, we have a great relationship – he’s a great man, a great manager.

“It will be tough. They have good players and they have been capable of beating teams like Arsenal at home. We need to take this game very seriously.

“We feel disappointed after Saturday but we need to move on. The competition doesn’t stop and we need to be ready.

“It was tough against Brighton at Wembley (a 2-0 win) but every game is different. Most important is how we prepare, that we care about our performance and be prepared to compete.”
