Fans flock to IndoSpurs’ third National Gathering

Thu 19 May 2016, 07:00|Tottenham Hotspur

Our fans in Indonesia were out in force to celebrate the third IndoSpurs National Gathering, which took place between May 6-8 at Bumi Kahyangan, Sumedang.

IndoSpurs, short for Indonesia Spurs, is one of the many official Supporters’ Clubs we have worldwide and their members enjoyed a three-day extravaganza – culminating in a screening of our final home game of the Premier League season against Southampton.

Here’s a day-by-day run-down of their latest National Gathering…

Day one – Friday, May 6

Two members of the IndoSpurs events committee, Gumelar and Izar, revealed that this year’s event would introduce the Sundanese culture to the Spurs family. This included each member wearing an ‘Iket Sunda’ – a traditional head piece – as well as introducing attendees to a Sundanese house built from wooden planks and bamboo. After all the members had assembled at the venue, proceedings were officially opened by IndoSpurs president Anton Hendarto and all the members from each IndoSpurs sub-region were introduced with an enlightening Q&A session.

One of IndoSpurs’ longest-serving members, Haris Setyo Utomo, held a Spurs history lesson for all the fans in attendance and answered questions regarding historic moments and club achievements. The day continued with a @Spurs_ID merchandise quiz.

The club’s official Indonesian Twitter account @Spurs_ID also arranged for a home shirt signed by Harry Kane, Christian Eriksen and Dele Alli to be presented to the Supporters’ Club president as a thank you for all the support they have given during the season.

Day two – Saturday, May 7

It was an energetic start to the second day – all IndoSpurs members gathered together to do some morning exercises, with Izar and Didit doing their best to keep the group in rhythm, before a tasty breakfast of Sundanese dishes was served for all.

Next on the agenda was the ‘amazing race’ – an event made up of mini challenges that combined club knowledge and physical endurance, with the victors winning three postcards signed by Christian Eriksen, Erik Lamela and Harry Kane.

Later in the day, @Spurs_ID introduced the #DizzyGoals challenge, which proved a delightful demonstration of the joy and togetherness on display at the event. This event was followed by a unique fashion show-like catwalk, in which Spurs jerseys past and present were modeled. As well as the kits, the first games in which they were worn were also recalled.

Towards the end of the day, IndoSpurs also held a charity auction from which the funds will be donated to the Panti Asuhan Nurusyifa orphanage in Bandung. The auction was followed by an announcement of Spurs and AIA merchandise winners – Didit Feri Nugroho and Nakito Widya Putra Pratama were among the lucky winners.

Day three – Sunday, May 8

Day three saw the culmination of the event and included members visiting some of the main attractions in Bandung city before watching a match screening of the season’s last game at White Hart Lane against Southampton.

Overall the event was a great success, but it would not have been possible without the fantastic work of IndoSpurs and IndoSpurs Bandung. As the three days came to an end, the only topic on everyone’s lips was when planning will start for the fourth National Gathering!
