Boston Spurs does its bit for charity

Tue 12 January 2016, 15:05|Tottenham Hotspur

Our Official Supporters Club in Boston, Massachusetts, raised $1,600 for charities including Tottenham Hotspur Foundation via an auction of memorabilia over the festive period.

Boston Spurs is one of 41 Official Supporters Clubs we have across North America, more than any other Premier League club.

All groups have become well known for acting as pillars in their local communities in the name of Tottenham Hotspur, and Boston Spurs certainly went the extra mile with its third annual charity auction.

Held over two dates at the Kinsale Irish pub, as well as online, the auction relied on Boston Spurs members donating various items of Tottenham Hotspur merchandise and memorabilia.

However, they were this year helped by a very special guest - former goalkeeper and US national team legend, Brad Friedel - who kindly donated a signed pair of his very own gloves.

The charities that will jointly benefit from the funds raise are:

Tottenham Hotspur Foundation - our award-winning official charitable body famed for creating life changing opportunities for people living on the Club’s doorstep.

Soccer Without Borders - a Massachusetts-based charity that uses football as a vehicle for positive outcomes amongst hard-to-reach young people.

The Pine Street Inn - a Boston-based homeless shelter.

Ryan Hayman, Chairman of Boston Spurs, said: "Boston Spurs is proud of our members' generous contributions. This annual event has run for three years with each year raising more than the last and we expect to see that trend continue. When it comes to charity, to dare is to do!"

On behalf of everyone at Tottenham Hotspur, well done to Boston Spurs for such a fantastic effort, and a special thanks to Brad Friedel.
