CAULKER ON TARGET FOR UNDER-21S
Posted 07 September 2012 09:16am
Steven Caulker scored the opening goal as the England U21s beat Azerbaijan 2-0 in the Euro 2013 qualifiers.
The centre-back headed home Jonjo Shelvey's free kick from the left-wing to score for the England U21s for the second consecutive game.
Danny Rose also played the full 90 minutes as England put themselves in pole position to qualify for Euro 2013 next summer.
"It was a great result," said Steven after the match.
"We came here to get the three points and we managed to do that. We feel that we could be better performance-wise, but it was the result that mattered and we're over the moon. I was delighted to get on the scoresheet."
Scotland's Under-21s maintained their hopes of reaching Euro 2013 with a 3-0 win over Luxembourg at St.Mirren, with goalkeeper Jordan Archer starting for Billy Stark's team.
