Club Kicks-off Support For Royal Br..

Fans arriving at White Hart Lane were greeted by by MTS CCF Army Cadets, holding bucket collections and at 1.30pm eight members of the British Army completed a 1,100-mile, six-day charity bike ride at the Lane, in aid of four charities.

Organised by Sergeant Lee Amey of 3 Royal School of Military Engineering Regiment, started at St Mary’s Stadium, Southampton on Monday and visited all Premier League stadiums en route to N17.

Ahead of kick-off, Club Ambassador Ledley King spent time with the 2nd and 4th Battalions of the Rifles regiment in the West Stand.

Members of the Rifles regiment formed a guard of honour to welcome the two teams onto the pitch. There was then a moment's applause to show appreciation for the work of the Armed Forces.

At half-time, Flight Lieutenant Tom Cousins, Royal Air Force Logistics Officer and a lifelong Spurs fan, was presented with an Official Membership pack by Ledley to mark the forming of The Camp Bastion/Afghanistan Official Spurs Supporters Club.

The campaign will culminate with an online auction of the special edition Poppy shirts the players will wear in the match against Manchester City which will take place on Remembrance Sunday.

The Poppy Appeal is the Legion's biggest fundraising campaign and runs year-round. Lapel poppies are available to buy in shops, supermarkets, pubs and clubs from the last week of October until Remembrance Sunday, or 11th November, whichever is later in the calendar.
