Amy's England Call
AMY'S ENGLAND CALL
Posted 15 October 2012 3:17pm
Amy Cooper has been selected for an England Under-19s training camp this week - the first England call-up at any level for Spurs Ladies.
The midfielder has joined the squad at the new St George's Park complex and will take part in behind-closed-doors friendlies against Wales and Sweden.
"It's a great moment for Spurs Ladies," said manager Karen Hills.
"Amy has been with us for a long time, she's come through the ranks, she's been scouted and now she's been called into the England Under-19s squad.
"She'll have the chance to play against Sweden and Wales and it's a fantastic opportunity for her.
"It's so important for the younger girls to have role models and at Spurs Ladies, where we've got over 200 girls playing across all age groups, it shows those girls what is possible if they work hard."
Meanwhile, Karen is convinced her team's luck will change sooner rather than later.
Spurs Ladies are yet to win in the FA Women's Premier League South or League Cup, despite a number of near misses.
"We're working so hard but the results just aren't falling for us," added Karen.
"We're not losing heavily, it's just a case of individual errors and things going against us.
"I feel the belief is there, the girls are together and I'm confident that win is just around the corner."
