First Team Player Profiles
Robbie Keane
The prolific striker and Republic of Ireland legend returned 'home' to the Lane in February 2009 after a spell at Liverpool and was immediately given the captain's armband by manager Harry Redknapp.
Robbie's return coincided with our best run of the 2008-09 season as we went unbeaten in his first six games to lift ourselves from relegation trouble to the brink of European qualification.
Overall, he scored five goals in 14 appearances following his return to N17.
Robbie had made 254 appearances in our colours in all competitions during his first spell between August 2002 and July 2008, after joining from Leeds United.
During this time he scored 107 goals, before leaving to join Liverpool, where he scored seven goals in 28 appearances.
He is one of only 15 players to have scored over 100 goals for the Spurs and stood 12th in the overall goalscoring chart on his return.
Robbie began his professional career with Wolverhampton Wanderers where he hit 29 goals in 88 games, before making the move to Coventry City in August 1999 for a then British record fee for a teenager.
His one season at Highfield Road brought 12 goals in 34 games and earned him a move to Inter Milan the following summer. The forward spent 18 months at the San Siro before moving back to England with Leeds United following a successful loan spell, bagging 19 goals in 56 games in total during a year-and-a-half spell at Elland Road.
Closing in on a century of caps for the Republic of Ireland, Robbie is his country's all-time record goalscorer and captain.
