Spurs are the underdogs as they return to the BayArena for the first time in 10 years for Tuesday night’s Champions League game against Bayer Leverkusen.
Currently 10th in the Bundesliga but unbeaten at home since April, Leverkusen are priced 23/20 favourites by Fun88, with Spurs 51/20 to win. The draw is 49/20.
In terms of trends, there is only one previous meeting to look at and that’s Spurs’ 1-0 win in the UEFA Cup at the BayArena back in November, 2006.
On that day, a former Leverkusen player came back to haunt the German side as Dimitar Berbatov scored the only goal.
Could history repeat itself? Heung-Min Son – 21 goals in 62 games for Leverkusen between 2013-15 – is back at the BayArena and priced 27/4 to score first and 21/10 to score at anytime.
Meanwhile, it’s a tempting 37/4 on Fun88 for Spurs to repeat that 1-0 win 10 years ago. Another reminder - what happened in Spurs’ last Champions League game? A 1-0 win at CSKA Moscow with Heung-Min Son on target…
In-form Dele Alli is 9/1 to score first, 3/1 to score at anytime.
Spurs have played nine times in Germany (excluding the InterToto Cup) going back to a 2-1 win against Cologne back in 1974, winning three, drawing one and losing five. The team has scored just nine times in those nine games, so trends-wise, if you are looking for a Spurs win, take 1-0!
Leverkusen have drawn both of their Group E matches so far, including a 2-2 home draw against CSKA. If you fancy a draw this time, Fun88 offer 6/1 for 1-1 and 33/4 for 0-0.
Sticking with the low goals theory in what is expected to be a tight game, under 2.5 goals on the night is priced 20/23 by Fun88.
