Pritchard eyeing mature performance against Luton

Tue 15 August 2017, 10:05|Tottenham Hotspur

Joe Pritchard is relishing the chance to take on a senior Football League team in competitive action in the Checkatrade Trophy tonight (Tuesday 15 August).

Luton Town are our opponents in the first of our three matches in Group F as our Under-21s prepare to enter the competition for the first time ever.

Midfielder Joe, 21 next month, believes opportunities like this will help him to bridge the gap between development and senior football.

“It’s a massive game and I’m really excited,” he beamed ahead of the 7.45pm kick-off at Kenilworth Road. “It’s a big game against a first team in a stadium and that’s the difference – I haven’t been on loan, the transition from Under-23s football to men’s football is really big and I think that’s the best thing for teams like us, to play against a men’s team and get a grip of what the difference is.

“This is a great opportunity, especially in a cup as well. It feels like there’s a prize to play for, something behind it all.

“I heard about Luton’s win against Yeovil (8-2 on the opening day of the season). It took me by surprise but we’re confident of going there and imposing ourselves on the game. We’ve played other Football League teams in pre-season and I believe we’ve got a really strong group this year, so we’ll go there and look to beat them.”

Tickets are available for fans to come and support our team at Luton tonight – details here…
