Mauricio: "Never give up, never accept a negative situation"

Sat 28 April 2018, 13:00|Tottenham Hotspur

Mauricio Pochettino underlined his desire for the team to move on from our FA Cup semi-final disappointment as we enter the final lap of the Premier League season.

That disappointment was palpable as the players left Wembley after our 2-1 loss to United on Saturday.

Mauricio told us that the players have now moved on and the focus is a strong finish to the season to secure Champions League football for the third-successive season.

We have four matches remaining, kicking-off with Watford at Wembley on Monday evening (8pm). We’re fourth going into the weekend’s fixtures, five points ahead of Chelsea.

“Of course, the frustration and disappointment is there from the result against United but we need to move on,” said Mauricio.

“It’s a natural feeling and emotion when you lose, especially in a semi-final. You are close, you compete but you don’t get what you want. It’s normal to be disappointed. It’s a very sad situation.

“The most important thing is to never give up and never accept this type of negative situation and work hard for the next opportunity to change that situation. That is how I think and what I believe. It’s always a challenge but it’s so important to work hard and keep going.

“Training has been good. It was difficult from the beginning (of the week) but now we’ve moved on and we’ve a massive objective in the last four games to try to win, try to keep our position and finish well.

“It’s important to finish well and it will be a massive success for the Club to finish in the top four and play in the Champions League again in our new stadium. After playing all season away from home that would be amazing.”
