Kyle Walker recently helped launch the introduction of basketball to our Premier League 4 Sport programme.
Alongside Badminton, Judo, Table Tennis and Volleyball, the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation now offers Basketball sessions at schools across Haringey.
A session at Northumberland Park School allowed the right-back to meet the young people participating and demonstrate his skills in basketball. Also there on the day was England Basketball player and Guildford Heat captain Mike Martin.
Kyle said, “I wish we had had things like this after school on the estate where I grew up in Sheffield, we just used to play sport on the street. A lot of the young people I met are clearly keen on their basketball, as well as their football, and this project gives them a great opportunity to try different sports they might otherwise not get the chance to do.”
The programme has recently launched a new membership scheme that gives young people an opportunity to become members of the Tottenham Premier League 4 Sport Club and have access to training sessions, discounted memberships with community clubs and other benefits for just £10.
The Tottenham Hotspur Foundation Premier League 4 Sport programme engages over 300 young people each week through sessions across Barnet, Enfield, Haringey and Waltham Forest. The programme encourages physical activity in new sports as well as providing a pathway to sports hub clubs for those who show a special talent and those wishing to pursue the sport further.
