#ExtraordinarySpurs: Pathways to employment - Josh's story

The Tottenham Hotspur Foundation is celebrating a decade of creating opportunities that change lives and today we bring you the latest in a series of features taking a look at some of the Club’s extraordinary yet often unseen work in its community.

Here we meet 23-year-old Josh, who has Autism and struggled to get a job before attending Pathways to Employment, a course which gives young people with disabilities the life skills to set them up for the working world, before helping them into employment.

The programme provided him with the confidence and attributes to successfully apply for a role at Whipps Cross Hospital, where he now works in the Radiology Department.

Josh said: “The course has really changed my life, improving my communication and confidence dramatically, while supporting me into a role at Whipps Cross.

“Before I started the course I was very shy and found it difficult to express myself, so I’d like to say a big thank you to the Foundation as what they’ve done for me is extraordinary.”

Pathways to Employment is a three-month course for young people with disabilities or learning difficulties. Weekly sessions are delivered at Waltham Forest College, which focus on improving participants’ employability skills.

The Tottenham Hotspur Foundation delivers a range of initiatives aimed at increasing employment opportunities, as well as access to sport and physical activity, for local people with disabilities.

The Club is also proudly supporting Level Playing Field during its Weeks of Action, which promotes the message of access and inclusion for all disabled supporters across the country.
