Eight months on and the midfielder prepares to face his former club as a key part of Mauricio Pochettino's team here at Spurs.
Victor remains ever-present after 27 games in the Premier League, providing the defensive shield alongside Mousa Dembele that has helped us concede just 20 goals, a total only matched by Chelsea.
We sit second having lost only three times - and that comes from a tight dressing room. "The most exciting thing is that the squad is young and energetic and I couldn’t wait to join," recalled Victor of his summer switch.
"Everyone was so nice and wanted to help me. It was amazing, the team spirit and the character of everyone together.
"For example, whenever someone goes for a meal, they invite other players and suddenly, the whole team is going for meal! It was amazing to see that. The character here is just different, special."
The same could be said of Victor's relationship with the fans, with the foundations laid by his winner on his home debut against Palace and cemented by his consistent performances in the engine room ever since.
He says that support inspires him. "It’s great to see the fans welcome you like that, giving you their support," he said. "They give me the energy to work harder, to work more for them."
