Midfielder Thomas Carroll, who celebrates his 23rd birthday tomorrow (Thursday), played a key role in the build-up to both of our goals – duly converted by Harry – as we ran out 2-1 winners at a humid Shah Alam Stadium.
Naturally, the central midfielder, who has garnered valuable Premier League experience on loan at Swansea City this term, was thrilled to pull on the Spurs shirt again and praised Harry for finishing things off against a tough Malaysian side.
“It’s good to get back involved with the lads and I’m happy to play a part in both the goals by grabbing a couple of assists,” said Tom. “You know when Harry gets a chance in front of goal it’s going to end up in the back of the net!
“To be fair, it was a tough game, though. My mouth was completely dry after about five minutes because of the warm conditions, but we adapted pretty well.
“It’s good to win, you want to do well and although it’s been a busy schedule for us, the fans are great out here and it’s been good to be able to give something back to them.”
Harry was equally buoyant after the final whistle – clearly glad to carry on his fine form in front of goal.
“I really enjoyed the game and I’m always happy to score,” he enthused. “It was tough out there and you can see from the final scoreline that the Malaysia XI were a decent side.
“It was really difficult, especially with the climate. It felt at times that you were just sweating for no reason! It was a good experience, though, and all in all it’s been a positive first stage of the trip for us.”
