Asteras vs Spurs - travel advice

Tue 04 November 2014, 22:05|Tottenham Hotspur

Advice for fans making the trip to Greece this week for our Europa League, Group C clash against Asteras Tripolis - updated with details of coach travel from Athens to Tripoli.

The city of Tripolis is situated approximately 190km from Athens. For those supporters staying in Athens, you can catch a X93 local bus for €5 to Kifosis bus station (the last stop, and takes just over an hour) and from there, it's €15 for a bus to Tripoli.

A coach has been arranged by the Club to transport supporters back to Athens after the match. Only supporters that have already registered via email with the Club will be able to travel on this coach service. All supporters are responsible for making their own way to the stadium prior to the match.

The drop off point in Athens post match will be at Omonia Square.

The City of Tripolis is a relatively small locality with a couple of traditional squares, with some small bars and cafes approximately a 15-20 minute walk away from the stadium.

The game will take place at the Theodoros Kolokotronis Stadium and tickets for the away support are accessed via Gate 4.

There will be THFC Stewards to assist you on arrival and to check tickets and bags. The usual prohibited items will apply and we would ask that you please abide by the local regulations at the Stadium. For any advice, please speak to a member of the THFC Stewarding team.

The stadium will open two hours before kick-off and those of you who have tickets to collect on the day, should make your way to Gate 4 where a Club representative will be present to issue the tickets - please provide some form of identification at this time.

Flags and banners are welcome, but will be checked prior to entry. It is common policy and normal ground rules at football stadiums in the UK and elsewhere in Europe, that flags of an overtly religious/sectarian/political nature will not be permitted and may be confiscated - please respect this request.

The away area of the stadium will have suitable catering and welfare facilities. The entire stand has been allocated to visiting supporters. There is no cover in the stadium and temperatures at this time of year in the region will be similar to November in the UK.

A decision will be taken on the night as to whether or not away fans will be held back, please listen for announcements which may affect you.

The Club is rightly proud of good behaviour during previous European travels and we would ask that you uphold this by respecting local amenities and cultures. Please do not place flags and banners on any buildings as this may cause offence.

General Advice:

- Do remember to have the correct Travel Insurance prior to travelling.
- Currency is the Euro.
- Crime in the Tripolis area is very rare and uncommon, but do take care of personal possessions in crowded areas.
- If you experience any problems whilst in Greece, please call the Travel Line - 07917 880445. This number will be available throughout the day/evening of the match.

Finally, remember that you are an ambassador for the Club and we would respectfully request that you behave accordingly throughout the entirety of your visit.
