Future Goals

The Future Goals programme is aimed at young people 12 - 18 in foster care. The key objective of the programme is to provide mentoring support and personal development plans to young people in three key phases of development: the Year Six to Seven transition, adolescence, and leaving Care

Foster Care Associates will refer participants to the programme through their social workers, with the Foundation looking to recruit 20 participants year on a rolling basis.

Each young person will be involved in a 12 week development programme once a personal development plan has been completed. The Foundation will assign an mentor to each young person and develop a personal development plan with them.

The young person would then be offered the opportunity to engage in a range of provision available in their area that the Foundation or one of our partners is delivering. One-to-one follow up sessions will be held every two weeks with the young person to evaluate their progress throughout the programme.

The programme outcomes will vary for young people at each of the main phases of development and will be tailored to their personal development plan. However, in general, on completion of the programme they will have been expected to: develop a personal development plan; receive life skills training and demonstrate improvement in key areas such as confidence, communication and collaboration; identify a possible future career path and outline steps towards achieving this; and engage with foster carers, social workers, and other key agencies.
