Always dangerous and showing good balance with the ball at his feet as he comes in from wide areas, attacking midfielder Phoenix Patterson saw his 2018/19 campaign disrupted by injury, but still remained an important influence in our title-chasing Under-18 side.
He featured in eight of our first nine Under-18 Premier League matches of the season, scoring twice, played twice more in the Under-18 Premier League Cup, featured three times in the Under-19 UEFA Youth League and scored against Portsmouth's senior side in the EFL Trophy in November, 2018, but sustained a leg injury in training shortly afterwards that ruled him out for several months.
He returned in April and played in our last four Under-18 Premier League fixtures as we ended up finishing second, while he also made four substitute appearances for our Under-23s in the Premier League 2 over the course of that campaign.
Prior to joining Spurs, Phoenix was with Wycombe Wanderers, having been born in High Wycombe and brought up in the nearby village of Penn. He attended John Hampden Grammar School.
He featured 13 times for our Under-18s in 2016/17 while still a schoolboy, scoring against Aston Villa in February, 2017. He started five matches that season, his full debut coming in a 4-0 win over Brighton & Hove Albion in October, 2016.
Phoenix subsequently started 20 of our 22 Under-18 Premier League games in 2017/18 and returned six goals - including a memorable hat-trick in a 6-3 victory at Brighton & Hove Albion in January, 2018. He also started all six of our games on our run to the Under-18 Premier League Cup Final during that season and played in all three of our FA Youth Cup outings, scoring in a 5-0 home victory over Preston North End on a bitterly cold December day in 2017. His debut in the UEFA Youth League came in March, 2018, as he stepped off the bench in a quarter-final home defeat to FC Porto.
