Born: 30 March 2001 (Barcelona, Spain)
A wide player with an eye for goal, Maurizio Pochettino enjoyed an eventful season with our Under-18s in 2018/19.
He made 15 appearances in the Under-18 Premier League, including one as a substitute in the first ever football match to be played at our new stadium as we beat Southampton Under-18s in a Test Event in March, 2019, and scored three goals - at home to Norwich City and West Ham, plus one away to Aston Villa. He also played four times in the Under-18 Premier League Cup, twice in the FA Youth Cup and stepped up to make two appearances for the Under-23s in December, 2018 - one against VfL Wolfsburg in the Premier League International Cup and one against Manchester City in the Premier League 2.
Maurizio was born in Barcelona and has since lived in Paris and Southampton. He moved to London and attended Aldenham School before joining our Academy full time as a scholar in the summer of 2017.
Fittingly, he made his Under-18 Premier League debut in a 2-1 win at Southampton in September, 2017, before scoring his first goal at that level on his first start in a 5-2 win at Swansea two months later. In all, he featured six times in the league for our Under-18s over the course of the 2017/18 campaign and made three further substitute appearances in our run to the inaugural Under-18 Premier League Cup Final.
