Joshua Oluwayemi

Born: 13 March 2001 (London, England)

Joshua Oluwayemi

Josh Oluwayemi has now made the step up to Development Squad level after serving as first-choice goalkeeper during our Under-18s' league title charge in 2018/19.

He made 17 starts as we eventually finished second in the Under-18 Premier League and built up a reputation for saving penalty kicks - incredibly, he stopped five in all competitions during that campaign, including two in a sensational 3-2 home victory in the north London derby in November, 2018. He also started as our Under-18s beat Southampton in the first ever football match to be played at our new stadium, as we held a Test Event there in March, 2019.

In addition, Josh played two games apiece in the Under-18 Premier League Cup and FA Youth Cup during that season, while serving as the substitute goalkeeper for our Under-19s in the UEFA Youth League on three occasions.

Born in Waltham Forest and raised in Harold Hill, he attended Emerson Park Academy in Hornchurch before joining our youth set-up full-time in July, 2017.

He made his Under-18 Premier League debut as a substitute for skipper Jonathan De Bie in our second game of the 2017/18 season at Leicester City, but with De Bie featuring regularly throughout the campaign, Josh had to be patient in pursuit of playing time. He kept a clean sheet on his first league start in a 5-0 thumping of Aston Villa in March, 2018, and also made one substitute appearance in the Under-18 Premier League Cup, also against Villa.

An England international at Under-16 and Under-15 levels, he was on the bench once for our Under-18s in 2016/17.
