Brooklyn Lyons-Foster

Born: 01 December 2000 (London, England)

Brooklyn Lyons-Foster

Defender Brooklyn Lyons-Foster showed his versatility at the back and popped up with some memorable goals at the other end during a superb 2018/19 campaign.

He was a regular member of our Under-18 side that challenged for the Under-18 Premier League title, eventually finishing as runners-up, scoring in a 6-4 opening-day home win over Brighton and making 13 appearances in all, including one in the first ever football match to be played at our new stadium as we beat Southampton 3-1 in a Test Event in March, 2019. He also scored once in two Under-18 Premier League Cup showings, played twice more in the FA Youth Cup and produced some tidy performances during an overall 10 appearances for our Development Squad. His most memorable moment arrived in Europe, though, as he scored the only goal of the game in front of a huge, partisan crowd in Greece as we beat PAOK in the UEFA Youth League play-off round, sending us through to the last 16. That was one of four appearances he made in the Under-19 competition during that season.

In July, 2019, he was given a chance to travel with our first team squad on our tour of Asia and, the following month, was named Defender of the Tournament at the Under-19 Oberndorf tournament in Germany, where our Academy reached the final.

Brooklyn was born in Archway and brought up in Enfield, where he attended St Ignatius School.

Although right-footed, he plays either as a centre-back, left-back or right-back and enjoyed a tremendous first full season with our Under-18s in 2017/18, playing 21 times at that level, starting four games in the UEFA Youth League and stepping up to play five times for the Development Squad, where he looked calm and assured among his older team-mates.

Unfortunately, his season was cut short by an ankle injury in the Under-18 Premier League Cup Final at Chelsea in March, 2018, but he returned in time to feature in the Under-19 Terborg Tournament in Holland at the end of May, 2018.

An England Under-17 international, he played three times for our Under-18s in 2016/17 while still a schoolboy. His sole start came against Aston Villa in February, featuring as a substitute against the same team in May, 2017, and also against Derby County.
