Born: 24 February 1997 (London, England)
Left winger Anthony Georgiou has come up through the age groups in our Academy and is a full international with Cyprus.
After five appearances for Under-23s in the Premier League 2, plus one goal in three Premier League International Cup matches, in the first half of 2018/19, he spent the second part of that season on loan at Levante II in Spanish Segunda Division B. He played 11 senior games for them, scoring against Hercules CF in February, 2019, and also played against Spurs Development Squad colleague Samuel Shashoua when Levante II met the latter's loan club, Atletico Baleares, two months later.
He travelled with our first team squad on tour to Asia in July, 2019, and the following month joined League One side Ipswich Town on loan until January.
Born in Lewisham, Anthony scored eight goals in 26 league appearances for our Under-18s in 2013/14 and opened his account in a 4-2 win over Norwich City that October. He later added his first brace at that level, coming off the bench to score twice against West Bromwich Albion in January, 2014. Anthony also made two substitute appearances in the FA Youth Cup that season, as well as one substitute appearance for our Under-21s.
The 2014/15 campaign saw him net four goals in 20 league appearances for our Under-18s. He was also involved in the early stages of our run to the FA Youth Cup semi-finals, memorably netting a brace in a 3-1 win over United at White Hart Lane, but was sidelined for a spell in the latter months of the season, restricting his involvement as the competition went on.
Having also made two appearances for our Under-21s during that campaign, Anthony was part of the side that won the IMG Cup in Florida in December, 2014, and was in the squad for our Premier League Under-18 Champions Cup success in September, 2014.
Anthony was a regular feature in our Under-21s set-up during 2015/16. He made 22 appearances in all competitions - 19 in the league - and demonstrated his versatility by sometimes filling in at left-back.
Unfortunately, his 2016/17 campaign was heavily disrupted by injury, which kept him on the sidelines from November, 2016, although he did manage to return in time to make a substitute appearance against Manchester United on the final day of the Premier League 2 season in May, 2017, taking his total number of games for the season at that level to six.
After travelling with the first team on our 2017 pre-season tour of the United States, where he featured against AS Roma in New Jersey, he made his senior competitive debut as a substitute in our 3-0 UEFA Champions League victory away to APOEL in Cyprus in September, 2017. He was back at the same venue in Nicosia in March, 2018, to make his senior international debut for Cyprus, starting in a goalless draw with Montenegro, and earned his second cap in a 3-0 defeat to Jordan two months later. He has since played for them in qualifying for Euro 2020. Anthony also made 11 appearances in the Premier League 2 during 2017/18, scoring a long-range goal in a vital home win over Derby as we fought to avoid the drop, and played twice more in the Premier League International Cup.
