Yago Santiago

Attacking midfielder Yago Santiago joined our Academy near the start of the 2019/20 season from hometown club Celta Vigo in Spain.

He netted 15 goals for Celta Vigo's Under-16s in 2018/19 and prior to joining them, he played for local club Areosa FC.

A former pupil at Cluny School in Vigo, Yago enjoys playing Padel during his spare time.

During the 2019/20 season, Yago made 12 appearances for our Under-18s in all competitions, scoring in a 6-1 home victory over Southampton shortly before the season came to a premature end because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

He scored three goals in 23 games for the Under-18s during an impressive second year with us in 2020/21, also stepping up to make his Development Squad debut against Leicester City in November, 2020.

He became a regular figure in our Development Squad the following season, appearing in all but two of our games at that level in all competitions. That meant he played 24 times in the Premier League 2, scoring once, and played three matches in the Papa John's Trophy, again scoring once. Over the course of that season, he was sometimes deployed as a central striker and put in some hard-working performances.
