Chay Cooper

Previously at Southend United, Chay Cooper is a midfielder who enjoys playing in the opposition’s half.

Born and raised in Harlow, he attended Mark Hall Academy and was a 200m and 800m champion at county level, in addition to winning multiple cross-country events during his school days.

He scored 16 goals at Under-16 level for us before joining our Under-18s in the summer of 2018.

During his first campaign at that level - 2018/19 - he made seven Under-18 Premier League appearances, including one off the bench against Southampton in the first Test Event match at our new stadium in March, 2019 - the first ever game to be played at the venue. He also made two appearances in the Under-18 Premier League Cup and one in the FA Youth Cup against Arsenal, while additionally helping our Under-17s lift the Euro Youth Cup in St Wendel, Germany, in September, 2018.

He was named among the substitutes for our Development Squad as they took on Oxford United's senior side in the second round of the EFL Trophy in December, 2018.
