Born: 31 December 1997 (Southend-on-Sea, England)
Strong centre-half Cameron Carter-Vickers is a product of our Academy system and a full international with the USA.
In August, 2021, after making his fifth first team appearance against Pacos de Ferreira in the Europa Conference League, he joined Celtic on loan for the remainder of the 2021/22 season.
He spent the 2018/19 season on loan with Swansea City, where he made 33 appearances in all competitions, before joining Stoke City on loan in August, 2019, making 15 appearances before returning to Spurs in January, 2020, and subsequently joining Luton Town on loan, where he helped them to avoid relegation at the end of the elongated 2019/20 season, playing 16 times for them. He spent the 2020/21 campaign on loan at Championship side AFC Bournemouth.
Born and raised in Southend, Cameron attended Eastwood Academy and joined the Club aged 11. He made 28 appearances for our Under-18s, scoring twice, in 2013/14 despite still being a schoolboy.
Part of our Premier League Under-18 Champions Cup-winning side in September, 2014, he scored once in six appearances for our Under-18s in 2014/15 and played 10 times for the Under-21s. He also started five times in the FA Youth Cup as we made it through to the semi-finals.
Cameron enjoyed another season of progress at the Club in 2015/16. Regularly captaining our Under-21 side, he played 13 league games at that level during that campaign, scoring once, while also playing twice in the Premier League Under-21 International Cup. He also made one appearance in the FA Youth Cup. His progress was rewarded with a series of opportunities to train with the senior squad and he made it onto the first team bench on four occasions in the Europa League between December, 2015, and March, 2016.
After an impressive pre-season campaign in 2016, he was named on the bench in our opening matches of the 2016/17 season in the Premier League and Champions League before making his senior competitive debut in our 5-0 EFL Cup third round win over Gillingham in September, 2016. He also started against Liverpool in the same competition the following month, while adding a further two appearances in the FA Cup later that campaign. A knee injury ruled him out of the closing weeks of the season.
Cameron then headed out on loan to gain experience of senior football in the Championship during 2017/18. He spent the first half of that campaign on loan with Sheffield United, where he played 18 times, scoring the winning goal on his debut against Bolton Wanderers, before playing a further 17 games for Ipswich Town between January and May, 2018.
On the world stage, Cameron played for the USA Under-20 national team at the FIFA Under-20 World Cup in New Zealand in the summer of 2015 and then again at the same tournament in South Korea in 2017.
He also played for the States at Under-17 and Under-23 levels while only 16. He received his first senior USA international call-up for the States' matches against Mexico and Costa Rica in November, 2016, but did not feature. His first senior cap arrived in a 1-1 friendly draw with Portugal in November, 2017, when he was introduced as a half-time substitute, before making his first start and impressing in a 1-0 home win over Paraguay in March, 2018.
