Born: 12 January 1998 (La Plata, Argentina)
Juan Foyth joined us from from Argentine side Estudiantes in August, 2017.
In the first of his overall 17 appearances during 2018/19 - his second season with us - the dynamic young centre-back was superb as we dumped West Ham United out of the Carabao Cup with a fully-deserved 3-1 win at the London Stadium in October, 2018. Three nights later, in early November, he was thrust in for his first Premier League start at Wolves, where he conceded two penalties but still saw us win 3-2.
The following week, he was the hero at the other end as he bagged his first ever Spurs goal to secure a valuable 1-0 win at Crystal Palace. His international debut for Argentina followed swiftly on while he continued to prove a valuable defensive option to Mauricio Pochettino throughout the season, even producing some impressive performances in an unfamiliar right-back role in the closing weeks of that campaign.
Having previously established himself in Estudiantes’ first team in 2017, Juan made his debut for us in a 1-0 home win over Barnsley in the Carabao Cup in September, 2017. In total, he made eight appearances during 2017/18, all in the cup competitions, including a Champions League bow in a 3-0 home victory over APOEL in December, 2017.
On the international stage, Juan was a key member of Argentina's 2017 FIFA Under-20 World Cup and 2017 Under-20 South American Championship squads before earning his first call-up to the senior side in October, 2018, making his debut a month later with an impressive showing in a 2-0 win over Mexico. In June, 2019, he represented his country at the Copa America - his first major international tournament.
