Recruitment process open for WSL Academy
Fri 12 February 2021, 17:30|Tottenham Hotspur
Following the launch of our new Female Talent Pathway at the start of the season, we are undergoing a recruitment process to fulfil spaces on our WSL Academy programme for the 2021/22 season.
Our FA WSL Academy squad links directly with the Spurs Women First Team, with the strategy of graduating players into this environment when viable.
The programme is designed to provide talented players between the ages of 16 and 21 years old with a programme which has a multi-disciplinary approach.
This includes extended medical provision, individual strength and conditioning support, education, lifestyle guidance and regular mental health workshops, as well as a football coaching and competition programme delivered by UEFA A and B licence coaches.
Players will also be able to gain a Level 3 Diploma in Sporting Excellence (DISE), which equates to approximately 64 UCAS points.
As this is a 50/50 dual career programme, all participants’ education or work commitments will be balanced with the training schedule – around 15 hours' commitment per week.
The squad competes in a league and cup competition with other WSL Academies, in addition to other organised fixtures against senior women’s sides and boys’ teams.
Our WSL Academy meets the governments elite protocols which enables the squad to continue training during lockdown. All relevant COVID regulations are followed and testing occurs twice weekly.
Players will be selected to attend trials on an invitational basis only. Please note that not all applications will be accepted for a trial for this programme.
