Lucas: ‘My family gives me motivation’

Thu 09 April 2020, 20:33|Tottenham Hotspur

While the entire world is going through a difficult time as we battle against the outbreak of the coronavirus, Lucas Moura is always looking for positives – and he is finding that through his nearest and dearest.

Staying at home with his family to help stop the spread of COVID-19, Lucas admits that in these tough moments something he has really been missing is his daily routine – the small things like working on the training pitch and spending time with his team-mates. Yet, this period of social distancing has also brought our Brazilian forward time to reflect and has given him a new perspective on life.

It has also provided the 27-year-old more time with his wife and two children, and he is determined to make the most of that. Whether it be catching up with the latest TV series, watching a movie or getting his young ones involved in his remote training sessions – as you will have seen in our video series of the first team’s remote workouts – Lucas is embracing every minute of family life.

We need to enjoy every day with our friends, with our families, because when we arrive at difficult moments like this, we cannot regret what we have done.

“I’m enjoying the time being with my family at home and the training sessions as well,” our number 27 explained.

“I’m watching a lot more movies, a lot more TV series and I’m just enjoying more time with my kids. I’ve just finished a TV series, I will watch another movie today. I like a movie with the family and the popcorn – it’s a good time!

“I do miss everything though. I miss playing football and I miss my team-mates. I miss the training ground and I miss our routine of going to the Training Centre, of going to play and having a good time with each other.

“It’s been fun to train around my family, my kids though. It gives me good motivation and I think it is important as well for the kids to see their father working hard and doing good things.

“I think (this period) gives us a better vision about our own reality and we need to enjoy our routine even more because we don’t know what will happen on another day. We need to enjoy every day with our friends, with our families, because when we arrive at difficult moments like this, we cannot regret what we have done.”
