Home sweet home for Ben and Winksy

Fri 12 July 2019, 10:47|Tottenham Hotspur

It didn't take long for Ben Davies and Harry Winks to pinpoint what they are looking forward to most as next season begins to loom large – being back home.

Pre-season training began this week and we’re already less than a month away from opening weekend in the Premier League and a home fixture against Aston Villa on Saturday 10 August.

Ben and Harry returned to Hotspur Way on Monday and five weeks of hard summer graft including our tour to Asia and International Champions Cup (ICC) matches against Juventus (Singapore, 21 July) and Manchester United (Shanghai, 25 July), Real Madrid in our Audi Cup opener in Munich (30 July) and an ICC fixture against Inter at the new stadium on 4 August.

The pair had plenty to celebrate on Monday as both signed new deals at the Club until 2024 and with 2019/20 now on the horizon, a return to our magnificent new home was on their minds.

Asked what they were looking forward to most next season, defender Ben responded: “For me, it’s going to be nice to be back at our home stadium. We’ve been away for the last couple of years and it has been tough. We’ve done well but having that feeling of being home is massive for the team.”

Midfielder 'Winksy' added: “I’m looking forward to that first game at home to Villa at the new stadium. It’s going to be an incredible atmosphere, hopefully the weather will be nice, it will be a good turn out and that will kick-start the season.

“Hopefully we'll get the three points and that will stand us in good stead for the rest of the season.”
