Just four days into his Spurs career and new loan signing Gedson Fernandes is in line to make his Spurs debut this lunchtime after he was named on the bench in our Premier League clash against Watford – and he admits he can’t wait to get on the pitch.

Having joined us on an 18-month loan from Benfica on Wednesday, Gedson has had just a matter of days to bed into life at Hotspur Way, but he has worked hard to quickly get up to speed with the rest of the group after getting stuck into his first training session with the team on Thursday morning.

But he explained that, while it has naturally been a rather different experience to what he had coming through the ranks in his 11 years at his parent club in Portugal, he has really enjoyed the first few moments of his Spurs career as he has been made to feel welcome in his new home.

And today, the attacking midfielder is eager to get his first taste of English football and take on what he describes as the ‘very hard challenge’ of the Premier League as we go toe-to-toe with the Hornets at Vicarage Road.

I already feel part of the group because the reception was very good from the Head Coach, the staff and my fellow players. The group is fantastic!

“My first few days here have been good, everything has been good. I have had a great reception from my new team-mates and I feel happy here,” our new number 30 explained.

“Everyone has made me feel comfortable and welcome here. I already feel part of the group because the reception was very good from the Head Coach, the staff and my fellow players. The group is fantastic!

“The training here is different because I was at Benfica for 11 years and now, I have signed for a new club. Normally the coaches have different ideas about how players work so it has definitely been different. I have enjoyed the training though - I like the Head Coach and I like the Club.

“Now I’m very excited ahead of today’s Premier League game as I could make my debut, which would be a happy moment for me. It’s going to be a very hard challenge for me because the Premier League is a very tough competition so I will have to be ready for whatever challenges I come up against.”
