It’s a special afternoon for Moussa Sissoko as we face his former club Newcastle United at home in the Premier League (4.30pm).

"Yes, this game means a lot to me,” the French powerhouse told us at Hotspur Way this week.

After impressing at Toulouse, Moussa made the switch to the Premier League and St James’ Park in 2013. He stayed for three years and made 133 appearances before his arrival at Spurs for the start of the 2016/17 season.

As we all know, that first season was tough for Moussa but he responded magnificently and played a huge part we finished in the top four again and reached the Champions League Final last term. Indeed, he started 39 of his 44 appearances.

City was tough but we came back with a draw. We need to carry on with that and win the next game - and that's Newcastle

“Newcastle, everyone knows, I played there for nearly four seasons and had a lot of enjoyable times there,” he added. “Now I’ve been at Tottenham for over three years, so I will play this game and try to get three points. That is my only target and the target of the team.

“We’ve all trained and prepared well for Sunday after a good result last week against City.

"That result will give us a lot of confidence. We won the first game against Villa and to go and play the champions away after that isn’t easy. It was tough but we came back with a draw. We need to carry on with that and win the next game - and that's Newcastle.”
