Ange Postecoglou is looking forward to the challenge of Fulham away in the second round of the Carabao Cup tie this evening (7.45pm).
We travel to Craven Cottage for our first second round tie in the competition since 2009, when we beat Doncaster Rovers 5-1 - Danny Rose made his Spurs debut that night.
Not long after we’d beaten Bournemouth, Fulham recovered from going 2-1 down and down to 10 men to grab a draw at Arsenal in the Premier League on Saturday, so both teams arrive in SW6 with momentum from the weekend...
Speaking to SPURSPLAY, Ange said: “It’s a tough game but it’s an opportunity for us to progress in a cup and there is a game there to be won – that’s what our focus will be.
“We’ll make some changes so we have the energy that will be required. It took a lot out of the boys today (at Bournemouth), but I’m looking forward to it. We want to be a team that takes on all challenges and that’s what we’ll try to do.”
It was mentioned to Ange that the players were very much staying grounded during this fine start to the campaign with the attitude always, ‘onto the next one…’
“We have to keep our feet on the ground because we’re only three games in,” added Ange. “There is a long way to go. Even in the game today we’ve seen areas we need to improve in. We’ll get punished if we’re not on it all the time, so there are some good lessons in everything we do. If we can keep producing performances that improve all the time, and results come, it helps fuel the belief.”
