Burnley vs Spurs | Rob's analysis, Ben's one to watch

Club commentator Rob Daly and Ben Haines, host of our matchday Review Show on SPURSPLAY, take a look at Burnley ahead of our trip to Turf Moor in the Premier League on Saturday (3pm).

Rob's tactical analysis...

"Burnley’s opening game of the season against Manchester City was not an easy game to judge them by. Erling Haaland put City in charge with two ridiculous first half finishes. They looked vulnerable from set-pieces and given Spurs’ proficiency from them last season, it could be an area to look at. Let’s face it - they’ve had a tough start. They didn’t get to play their second game of the season as Luton’s stadium wasn’t ready, and then faced a very strong Aston Villa side, losing 3-1.

"Vincent Kompany is clearly a demanding, passionate manager and he got every ounce out of his squad last season. They were the top scorers in the Championship and comfortably won the division playing very attractive football, moving the ball out from the back. Burnley were also very good at winning the ball high up the pitch. No team scored more goals from final third turnovers - something for Vicario, the centre-backs and Bissouma will be wary of at Turf Moor. Saying that, Spurs can hurt Burnley in the same way. Josh Cullen is that pivot player in central midfield. If the team play in the way Ange Postecoglou wants, with that intensity and pressing, opportunities could come. In terms of team selection, I’d imagine the side will go back to the same 11 that has started the last two Premier League games, if everyone is fit. It’ll be important to try and quickly move on from the Carabao Cup exit and revive those good feelings from the Brentford, Manchester United and Bournemouth matches going to into the international break."

Ben's one to watch...

"My ones to watch this week... similarly to Rob, I do feel a bit for Burnley with the start that they've had. The champions on Matchday 1 featuring Haaland in full 'unstoppable mode' and then one of the league's most in-form sides in Aston Villa who, at the back end of last season, had just two defeats since 18 February. The thing with the Premier League is you often get punished for trying to do things the so called 'right way'. Playing good football means committing players forward and taking risks. If those risks don't come off you can find yourself very quickly on the receiving end of some heavy scorelines.

"With that in mind, one to keep an eye on for The Clarets is Zeki Amdouni. Against Villa, driving forward early on in the game looking to attack and create something with four team-mates beyond him, he got caught in possession - cue Villa charging down the other end and taking the lead after seven minutes. Roll on three days later, he's scoring the winning goal for Burnley in the EFL Cup second round in stoppage time. He's good on the ball, has lovely quick feet and will be a different challenge for Cuti Romero and Micky van de Ven to deal with at the back.

"For Spurs this week I'm backing Heung-Min Son to open his account and get his first goal in the league this season. It's been brilliant getting to watch Sonny in this new role, not just becoming one of the senior, more experienced players in the group, but now leading the side out as captain as well. His game is developing and changing under Ange in a really exciting way and that's in no small part down to the faith that Ange has put in him as his captain.

"It's been such an exciting start to the season with fans rightly looking forward to every single moment, I think Sonny and some of the touches he's added as captain are a big part of that excitement and togetherness everyone is feeling. Beyond that, it feels as though he's just been a little unlucky that he hasn't had a real clear-cut opportunity to nick a goal and start that charge toward another impressive goalscoring tally - but what better time to get a crucial goal or two to leave us in a great position before the international break!"
