Spurs vs Liverpool | Ange on facing Klopp's Reds for the first time

Ange Postecoglou is looking forward to the challenge of locking horns with Jurgen Klopp for the first time.

Klopp joined Liverpool in October, 2015 - his first game in charge, coincidentally, a goalless draw against us at the Lane - and has won the lot, including a first title in 30 years and the Champions League, beating us in the final in 2019.

Renowned for an all-action, attacking style of play, dubbed 'heavy metal football', Klopp's 2023/24 Reds are unbeaten, winning five of six games so far - so it's a battle between two undefeated teams at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Ange said: "Jurgen is an outstanding manager, he's one the managers it's fair to say who has made an impact on the competition, not just his club, because when he came in, with the way Liverpool went about things, he challenged quite a few of the conventions about the Premier League and introduced a new style of play that others have followed.

"From when Jurgen came to the league and the way they set up, just the tempo and intensity with which they played, both offensively and defensively, it was at another level.

"The Premier League has always been a fairly high tempo league but I thought they took it to another level. At times, it looked almost chaotic but you could see there was a plan behind it. It is very hard to cope with.

"They probably bring something different from any other team in the league in the way they play and the manner they go about things, and it will be a really good test for us to try to impose our football on a team that's fairly unique in the way they play the game."
